Call me cheesy if you want but my love for René Magritte has been a thing for as long as I can remember. His imagination blew my mind when I first saw one of his paintings as a little kid and for years I sought out images of his work in every book I could get my hands on. The exhibition at MoMA titled “Magritte: The Mystery of the Ordinary, 1926-1938” was the first time I had seen so many of his works all in one place and of course, being able to walk through a tiny fraction of the artist’s incredible mind laid out in a gallery was a memorable experience and a wonderful afternoon.
In this collaboration, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim of Opening Ceremony teamed up with the Artists’ Rights Society to reproduce some of Magritte’s most iconic works onto articles of clothing. Basically, everything that is awesome right now including Vans and Birkenstocks have been given a surrealistic twist. Check out the entire collection and shop HERE.
