Ahem, that’s Her Royal Highness Doña Letizia, Princess of Asturias, Princess of Viana, Princess of Girona, Duchess of Montblanc, Countess of Cervera and Lady of Balaguer to us common folk.
It seems that fairy tale princess dreams don’t just come true for Kate. This future queen of Spain was born a commoner to middle class parents in Oviedo in the north-west of the country. Not only was she without a title, but she was divorced when she met Prince Felipe … very scandalous. Luckily, that wedding was only a civil ceremony which means it was not considered canonically valid by the roman Catholic Church and did not require an annulment from the Pope to proceed with her marriage to the Prince (phew!)
Letizia has a brain to match her beauty, she holds a Master’s Degree in Audiovisual Journalism and has worked at news agencies such as the Spanish version of Bloomberg and CNN. She also has two daughters with Prince Felipe, Infanta Leonor de Todos los Santos and Infanta Sofia de Todos los Santos.
I don’t know about you (and I also have no idea why) but I’m pretty excited to see a beautiful, educated and young Queen with two lovely little princesses. It was just announced that King Juan Carlos would be abdicating his throne so get ready for Queen Letizia.
