Hello friends, welcome to You Made Me Like You!

My name is Sara, I’m a 29 year old Canadian living in Brooklyn, New York.  I started this site in March of 2014 having thought about it for a while but finally taking the plunge after getting a much-needed shove from two very wise friends.  I see You Made Me Like You as an opportunity to visually and conceptually bring together my love for art (of all kinds) and style – a topic which has always fascinated me but the idea of which has drastically changed since moving to New York.

Here’s a little more about me:

-My first art “job” was a co-op placement at the AGO in OAC (yes, that is grade 13)

-I was born in Toronto to Mexican parents

-All of my extended family lives in Mexico; I travel there as often as I can

-I did ballet from when I was 5 all through University and I still love it

-Lately, I’ve been cheating on red wine with bourbon

-I love and can’t resist anything with an evil eye on it

-I did my undergrad in Art History/Philosophy at Queen’s University in Ontario

-I have a Master’s degree from NYU in Visual Arts Administration

-I worked at MoMA the Museum of Modern Art

-I could eat loaf cake all day (especially chocolate or banana bread)

-My favorite love story is “Like Water for Chocolate” by Laura Esquivel

-I speak most of the romantic languages (French, Spanish, Italian)

-My favorite works of art hanging in my apartment are by artists Nicolas di Genova and Jack Henry

-My spirit animal is and always has been Cookie Monster

I hope you enjoy reading/looking at this blog as much as I’m enjoying writing it.  I would love to hear from you guys with any questions or comments so feel free to get in touch at youmademelikeyou@gmail.com or use the form below

Also, all images come from my camera unless otherwise stated so feel free to use whatever but  give a shout out if you’re using one of mine.

      • To accept, all you have to do is mention it on your blog and answer my questions. That’s all 🙂

  1. Howdy terrific blog! Does running a blog such as this take a great
deal of work? I have no knowledge of computer programming however I had been hoping to start my own blog soon. Anyways,
should you have any ideas or techniques for new blog
owners please share. I know this is off subject but I simply had to ask.
    Cheers!

    • I don’t know anything about computer programming either! It’s all about problem solving with these things. Also yes, the blog turns out to be a lot of work if you’re going to do it right – with taking photos, editing them, writing, tweaks, fixing problems and then all the social media. It’s worth it though, it has been a lot of fun and I’ve definitely learned a lot so far!
